This week we heard that home builders in 33 of the nation’s metropolitan areas across the United States have started to build living quarters again, although ever so slightly.
This is probably the best news one can hear if you have investments in the real estate industry. (If you don’t have investments in real estate, it means you should soon.)
Some experts say home builders are the weather vane for the health of residential real estate. When home builders are building, the outlook is positive. Conversely, when home builders are not building, the outlook is negative.
In general, home builders typically do not take financial risks unless they see some reward in the future. They are a very conservative bunch, so the buying starts seen this week indicates money is flowing again from lenders to this segment of the real estate industry. And that perhaps, is the biggest, best news of all.
